Truck drivers shun Lagos governor's ban order

Gov. Ambode

Written by: Olalekan Olabulo, Lagos

The daytime ban placed on the movement of articulated vehicles in Lagos State by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is not yet being complied with, Tribune Online has observed.

On Monday, in parts of Dopemu, Agege and Iyana Ipaja, truck drivers moved around without any inhibitions with law enforcement agencies looking the other way.

Trucks carrying containers and others carrying cows and cement were seen driving along the roads in daytime, defying the ban that they should not move during the time.
There was also no attempt by law enforcement agents to stop the truck drivers in most of the places visited.

A driver, who simply identified himself as Adamu, while speaking with Tribune Online, said he was not aware of any ban on movement of trucks in the state.

"Ban? I am not aware of anything. I just came back to Lagos this morning from the North and nobody stopped me on the way," Adamu stated.
