Anyone in their right mind will tell you that virtually every footballer is overpriced.
The amounts of money that clubs spend on players is nothing short of ludicrous for people just to kick a ball.
And no-one overpays for players more than Premier League clubs, according to a new study by the CIES Football Observatory.
The study has calculated the estimated worth of footballers and compared it with their actual transfer value.
They estimate the transfer value by looking at a player’s age, position, contract situation, international status, experience, performance and the level of competition the individual plays at.
Half of the top 20 worst transfers by value were made by Premier League clubs.

Aston Villa finally cashed in on the Belgian attacker and seem to have done pretty good business.
The menacing forward was valued at £19.2m but Liverpool opted to pay around £33.5m.

City spent an eye watering £53.9m on the 24-year-old Wolfsburg forward.
CIES reckon he was only worth £34.5m meaning that City seriously overspent.

In one of the most surprising deals of the summer, United paid a reported £36.4m to land a fairly unknown 19-year-old Frenchman.
And it seems that selling club Monaco got the deal of the summer as his true value was closer to £16m.
That means United paid more than double what he was worth…
