Two dead and one fighting for life after car smashes into house

Two people have died and another has suffered life-threatening injuries after a car crashed into a house near Doncaster, South Yorkshire Police said.

Emergency services were called to the scene off Doncaster Road in Branton at around 1pm.

The car burst into flames on impact, eyewitnesses told Doncaster Free Press.

The extent of injuries are not known at this stage.

A police spokesman said: ‘Police have confirmed that two people have died following a collision in Branton earlier today.

‘A third person is currently being treated in hospital with life-threatening injuries. All three people were inside the car at the time of collision.

‘Emergency services remain at the scene following the collision in Poppyfields Way which happened at around 12.50pm today, Tuesday 25 August. It was reported that a car set on fire car after it was in collision with a house.

‘Doncaster Road has been closed from the junction of Warning Tongue Lane roundabout to New Road at the junction with Whiphill Top Lane.

‘The road is expected to remain closed for some time while emergency services, including the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, respond to the incident.’
