Two decades on from his tragic suicide, it seems Courtney Love still has many unanswered questions for her husband Kurt Cobain.
The 51-year-old paid touching tribute to the Nirvana frontman – who took his own life in April 1994 aged just 27 – on the occasion of their daughter Frances Bean’s 23rd birthday, by posting a series of throwback snaps on Instagram.
The pics, taken from a photoshoot published in Spin Magazine in December 1992 show Kurt cradling their baby daughter as he and Courtney sit together on a brass bed.
Courtney said of the snap: ‘Makes me feel so sad. Our baby is all grown up now. Jesus Kurt, what on earth were you thinking…???’
The heatbreaking note added: ‘God I miss you. We all miss you.’
A second snap shows Frances sleeping on his lap as he lies with his legs resting up against the bedhead, which Courtney captioned: ‘My greatest love and our precious Bean.’

Courtney and Frances Bean – who is now 23 – recently produced documentary Montage Of Heck, about Kurt’s life – which was released in UK cinemas in April and shown on HBO in the US in May.
She told its director Brett Morgen that watching the finished film ‘f****d her up’, explaining: ‘Nobody else was as funny. Nobody else was as compatible and got my jokes. And you can see it in the film.’
Courtney added: ‘I remembered how much I love him, and it made me think about a few other people I don’t want to name, but a few other people I’ve been in love with.
‘And should I have married them? The answer is actually no.’
