Meet the couple who sheltered dog in the rain for 20 minutes

A mystery couple who became popular online after an image of them sheltering a stranger’s dog was posted have spoken about their new found fame.

It turned out Bradley Walledge, 17, and Elise Rogers, 16, weren’t actually together and are just friends.

But what was more important was the act they carried out in Dover, Kent.

This photo made them famous (Picture: SWNS)

‘We were walking down the street and we saw the dog there. It wasn’t raining and we went over to stroke it. It was really friendly,’ said Bradley.

‘The rest of our group were in the shops, and then it started raining heavily and it started whining.

‘We thought we were out for about 20 minutes – it felt like we were covering the dog for about 15 minutes. But we were told it was much longer than that.’

The act of kindness came as Kent was battered by more than a month’s worth of rainfall in just 24 hours.

They said the dog’s owner, a man in his 20s, had been shopping in Marks and Spencer before he returned to his distressed pet.

Elise, who herself owns an Alsatian, added: ‘He said thanks and “it’s surprising how much the weather could change” and then he just walked off.

‘He only came back with a few bits from the shop.’

After their story shot around the internet, Bradley and Elise were interviewed on ITV’s This Morning by Eamon Holmes and Ruth Langsford, and mixed with famous faces including fashion stylist Gok Wan.
