Wow! Kurt Cobain’s Unplugged Sweater Sells For $137,500

It was auctioned alongside items owned by Elvis Presley and John Lennon

Back in 1993, Nirvana performed a now-iconic set for MTV’sUnplugged. During the performance, frontman Kurt Cobain sported a ratty, olive green cardigan. That very cardigan just sold for $137,500 at an auction in Los Angeles.

Amazingly, the obsolete video format only just died.

The end is nigh for Betamax, Sony’s 40-year-old analogue video format.

The Japanese conglomerate said it would officially stop shipping its antiquated Betamax videocassettes as of March 2016 in a blog post on the company’s Japanese website. The company also said it would exit its Micro MV cassette business—another failed format—at the same time.
