Slept with four people? Then you’ve been exposed to nearly 2,000,000 sexual partners

Warning: This tool may disturb you (Picture: Paramount/No Strings Attached)

A new sexual partner calculator has got us freaking out over the amount of genitals we’ve come in contact with.

According to the tool, if you have racked up four notches on the bed post, you have effectively been exposed to nearly 2,000,000 sexual partners.

The tool, created by Lloyds Pharmacy, has taken the six degrees of separation theory – the sociological idea that we’re all connected to each other by just six connections – and applied it to sex.

We wish they hadn’t, because we now can’t stop seeing images of the millions of genitals we’ve unwittingly been exposed to.

The tool works by taking the numbers of partners you’ve had and multiplying it by the partners they are likely to have had.

Then by the partners of those partners and so on for six stages or ‘degrees’.

That number gets into the millions real quick (Picture: Lloyd’s Pharmacy)

Lloyd’s Pharmacy say: ‘This calculator is not a diagnostic tool but it highlights how exposed you can be to STIs, and how this risk increases with each new partner.

‘It’s not just your direct partners that you have to worry about, but your partners’ partners, and their partners’ partners, and so on.’

The calculator highlights how having sex with just one person could mean you’ve been exposed to almost half a million other partners (with or without a condom) – and the older that partner, the more partners they have had.

And if that won’t encourage you to always use a condom, we don’t know what will.

The message: Use condoms. Get tested after each partner.
