Politics: Getting Nigeria out of ditch beyond human capacity – El-Rufai

Gov. el Rufai

Everest Amaefule, Abuja

Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai on Wednesday said Nigeria had sunk into such a ditch that it is beyond human capacity to redeem the country.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Abuja, el-Rufai said it was important for Nigerians to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and his team because they have a difficult task to do.

He said, “The thoughts and prayers of the entire Kaduna State Government and the entire Kaduna State people are with President Muhammadu Buhari and his team in this very difficult job of getting Nigeria out of the ditch that the previous administration put the country.

“It is a challenging task. It is beyond human capacity actually. So all we can do as Nigerians and as individuals is to give the president and his ministers maximum support; to continue to pray for them and to continue to wish them well.”

Receiving the governor, Mohammed described el-Rufai as colleague in the struggle, intrepid and courageous and not a man that would shy away from controversy.

He disclosed that the ministry was in the process of launching a huge national campaign on national orientation.

Mohammed said, “When the history of the All Progressive Congress is written; when the history of merger is written; when the history of the struggle is written; we will better understand the relationship between Mallam and me.

“Our vision is to leverage on the unique power of information and culture to drive the change mantra. Our goal is simply to use this ministry to ensure that Nigerians take ownership of the change mantra in a manner that they will own it, they will live, and we as government will just be the driver.

“Everybody is talking about change. We will not sleep in the night, wake up in the morning and see change. It is when we decide ourselves that the change should come that it will come.”
