But the temptation must be even greater when your dad is one of the world's biggest fashion icons.

David Beckham's 16 year-old son Brooklyn last night posted a brooding selfie on Instagram saying he was “rocking the old school Ralph Lauren.”

However the former United star dad David immediately called him out and embarrassed him in front of his millions of followers, saying: “That’s my jumper.”

The public ribbing sparked a hilarious reaction, with thousands of others admitting launching raids on their mum and dad’s wardrobes as youngsters.

It isn’t the first time the ex-Real Madrid and LA Galaxy midfielder has trolled his eldest son.

Earlier this year he responded to a one of Brookyln’s posts about gaining a million followers on the picture sharing app by saying: “I've got 52 million.”

The pair were pictured out and about in London last night with Brooklyn’s 13 year-old brother Romeo.

Last month Brooklyn again followed in his dad’s footsteps by gracing the turf at Old Trafford.

Brooklyn was brought on as a substitute to replace his 40 year-old dad at a specially arranged charity match at the Theatre of Dreams to raise money for kid’s charity Unicef.
