Ogun State 57 LCDAs: Just Before We Roll Out The Drums - Badero Olusola

Badero Olusola

My own concern on the proposed 57 LCDAs in Ogun State by Amosun is, before the end of the year, we will have more Honourables parading themselves on facebook because they will then be councillors from various Buka Council Office Amosun will put them all in. Sadly, they will be the ready made tools of disruption in any election in the state afterward.

Amosun is using our money to recruit political jobbers that will not serve anyone but him and him only.

I once said this, "APC will teach PDP how to loot legally".

Now Amosun is being smart by half, using the instrument of the law to establish his final political empire in Ogun state; just like Asiwaju Tinubu did in Lagos.

Tinubu dared Obasanjo and created 37 LCDAs in Lagos to spread his political dragnet over the state and installed his loyalist in every corner of the state, legally. That single act was what started the PDP eclipse in the state which they may never recover. When anyone sneezes, Tinubu would hear, if they plot, he's a step ahead and this gave him the vantage opportunity to know everything, everyone, every time, whenever he chooses.

With the 57 proposed LCDAs by Amosun, the governor doesn't need any particular political party before winning election for anyone he so chooses in the state. All he would need is a meeting of himself and his 57 disciples and their foot soldiers (councillors). It is just a matter of time.

I've seen PDP lawmakers celebrating the chicanery on facebook. If they think it is for the progress of the state or to their political advantage, I shake my head for them.

Ogun state hasn't been able to manage the legal 20 local governments in the last 4 years. They've all became shadow of their old selves. No single local government has embarked on any capital project within its rank in the last 4 years, due to paucity of funds. Now we will have 57!

The funds meant for the 20 local governments never gets to them; but into a joint account operated by the state governments and the 20 councils. The chairmen of the 20 councils are Amosun's political appointees and they dare not look him in the face or question him whenever he chooses to deep his hands in the pot. With 57 LCDAs, we should just say bye bye to local government administration in Ogun state.

Where will he get the funds to support them; build new secretariats and not shanties for the 37 new councils? I am talking about the take off funds for the new LCDAs when we can't even pay outstanding deductions of workers? Where our model schools remained unfinished and unoccupied? Our health centers and public school building in dereliction states?

Apart from attacking themselves over meaningless rivalries of who is richer or stronger in the media, what else are the PDP leaders saying about this? They are all silence watching from distance because they don't understand Amosun or they just choose to be mute and let
