Kevin Boyd was dropping off paperwork at a pub when the dog lunged at him as owner Linda Libby, 53, chatted to her mum on the pavement nearby.
The pet clamped it powerful jaw on Mr Boyd’s privates and he punched it on the head in a desperate bid to get it loose.
The dog then bit him on the arm and he fell to the ground in agony with a one-inch cut to his testicle and other cuts, grazes and puncture to his legs and arms.
Libby helped with first aid before Mr Boyd was taken to hospital for treatment.

He was forced to take time off work to recover because of the bruising and pain he suffered.
Libby admitted having a dog which was dangerously out of control and was ordered to pay £900 compensation to Mr Boyd and £350 costs.
Magistrates in Bodmin, Cornwall, heard how Mr Boyd was attacked at a local pub on December 9.
Libby told police she heard a growl and turned to see her pet on top of Mr Boyd.
She said the attack left her feeling ‘gutted’ and claimed it was out of character for her dog.

Libby told the court she had repeatedly offered to take Mr Boyd to hospital and had ordered a muzzle for Buster ‘within an hour’.
Mr Boyd said in a victim impact statement that he was a dog owner himself, but the incident had left him feeling wary of the animals.

The court made a contingent destruction order requiring Libby to get Buster neutered, tattooed and micro-chipped within two months and also to obtain third party insurance for him.
She was also told she must keep him on a muzzle and short lead at all times in public.
