. Dream Team Arrival In Lagos On Monday
Nigeria’s Dream Team V1 contingent to Senegal arrived Nigeria on Monday amidst wild celebration at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, SRSport.com can authoritatively report.
The team touched down in the early hours of Monday and almost immediately connected another aircraft to Abuja, which was part of the arrangements for their journey back home.
The players and officials of the team, with the exception of three foreign based players, Junior Ajayi, team’s skipper, Azubuike Okechukwu and Taiwo Awoniyi , who have returned to their respective clubs, others returned with much excitements after doing the nation proud by winning the Africa Cup of Nations U-23 trophy in Senegal.
Speaking on arrival from Senegal, Dream Team coach, Samson Siasia said it was a big relief for him to win the U-23 trophy against all odds prior to the commencement of the competition.
“I’m so happy to have returned with the trophy to Nigeria. We planned to win the tournament, and today God has crowned our efforts. Big kudos to my players and the entire coaching crew, they all made the celebration worth the while”, Siasia said with excitement.
Nigeria defeated Algeria 2-1 to win the tournament’s trophy, and also picked the ticket to represent Africa in Rio 2016 Olympics alongside Algeria and South Africa respectively.
