Some images of the operation were obtained by DAILY POST Thursday night.

During the encounter, the troops freed many hostages and dislodged some Boko Haram insurgents, who fled on sighting them.

Army sources told DAILY POST that the Boko Haram fighters cannot escape into towns as there were many checkpoints at all Sambisa exits and entry routes.

The troops discovered a tunnel the sect uses as hideout from military air strikes.

They also destroyed Boko Haram flags, motorcycles, among other properties.
