The Second And Concluding Part: Amosun, The Cancerous Menace; And Another Epic Exposé On The Educational Sector Of Ogun State. - Oladuni Oliyide

It is no longer news that Senator Ibikunle Amosun who holds sway as Ogun State Governor has inflicted more pain on an average citizenry of Ogun State than any other governor that has held forth in the state. This ugly orgy came to a crescendo last week as the government pulled down a chapel of The Redeemed Christian Church named; Christ The Rock.

Usually as the practice, government came out a week after the demolition that religious house shouldn't sprout on Government Reservation Area (GRA). Whereas, the major GRA quarters in Abeokuta hosts a lot of many religious houses. All Souls Anglican Church is situated almost adjacent to the ongoing palatial Asian mansion of the governor, a mosque is located within a radius of 500meters to the governor's house. Yet, the governor hasn't deemed it fit to demolish those two religious houses and others within the Ibara Housing Estate.

The Olusegun Obasanjo Hill Top Estate that hosts Christ the Rock Chapel of RCCG demolished by Amosun equally host two other major churches; St Andrews Anglican Church, Bethel Church of Christ and two other miniature churches. Personal chapels are also on this estate likewise personal mosques built within the perimeter fences of prominent people on the estate.

The above postulations suffice the logical thinking that the church was pulled down for the governor to ventilate his anger towards the presiding pastor of the church; Pastor Remmy Hassan who is an avowed political antagonist of the governor. The governor is famous for running after his political foes with the state's machinery. He takes relish on demolishing their properties and causing them quantum of losses in an unimaginable proportion.

The popular maxim that he who comes to equity must do so with clean hands should be a clear indicator to the governor. If truly religious houses shouldn't be located within Government Residential Areas, then governor should embark on total, massive and all inclusive destruction of religious houses in all the GRA quarters across the length and breadth of the state. Abeokuta, Sango Ota, Ilaro, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu and other estates should be stripped off of those houses.

One will recall that Abraham's Terbanacle; the church built by the predecessor of governor Amosun, Otunba Gbenga Daniel faced a major threat of demolition. But for the resistance of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Amosun would have pulled down the religious edifice. Abraham's Terbanacle is also built within the government residential area of Sagamu and the particular structure was commissioned late 2011. To date, the destructive prowess of Senator Amosun cannot touch Abraham's Terbanacle.

It is however noteworthy that Ogun State has produced many religious leaders of note. These are men of God that have brought excellence and honour into their missionary pursuits. Notably amongst these men of honour are Pastor Tunde Bakare, Primate Peter Akinola, Prophet Dr. Ayo Ositelu, Pastor Osunkeye, Pastor Bilewu Oshofa, Alhaji Sabur Biobaku and Chief Lateef Adegbite among hosts of others. Listing these men of honour is at total aberrance to the credit that they have brought to the state.

Besides these men of honour, Redeemed Christian Church of Christ has its headquarters in Ogun State, Celestial Church of God, Church of The Lord, Aladura are all churches that have their root and national headquarters in Ogun State. These are unparallelled record as even The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion has its first church in Nigeria and Africa on the soil of Ogun State.

What record is the governor laying in this instance? He's surely working at total variance to the record that the state can be proud of. Let all well meaning citizens of Ogun State make a sonorous and harmonious symphony of calling the destructive governor to other or else.

Oladuni Oliyide writes from Abeokuta, Ogun State.
