Politics: APC does not mean well for you – Governor Dickson tells Ogbia people

Dickson

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has charged the people of Ogbia Kingdom, kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan to shun the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state, saying the party does not mean well for people of the state.

Dickson, who spoke during his community-to-community campaign tour of the area, admonished the people not to be swayed by what he described as the propaganda of the opposition APC in the state.

DAILY POST reports that Dickson and his entourage visited various communities in the kingdom, among them, Otuoke, Jonathan’s community, Ologi, Otuokpoti, Anyama,Okodi, and Epebu.

Other communities also toured by the Restoration Campaign Organization include, Otuasega, Kolo town, Emeyal, Imiringi, Elebele, Opume, Oloibiri, Ogbia, Otakeme and Otuabagi.

Dickson, who was received by a mammoth crowd of cheering supporters in the Ogbia communities visited during the campaign tours, urged the people be weary of the antics of the APC.

He said: “Anytime they come to you, always remember to ask them what their achievements were during their five years stay in office, if not violence.

“They have nothing to offer the state. The people of Bayelsa State are wiser now. This is your government. PDP is your party. Where is the change that they are professing.”

The Governor reminded the Ogbia people that their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) remains the only tools needed to actualize their dream as a people, charging them to troop out on election day to vote the PDP.

He also urged the people to be prepared to defend their votes, and not be deceived by the lies of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), which he said have nothing to offer the people of the state.

Dickson, who called on the Ogbia people to reciprocate the goodwill they had enjoyed under the leadership of the PDP from its inception to date, said the party was the only one that protected the interest of the minority groups in the country.

Responding on behalf of the people of the area, a community leader, Chief Graham Ipigansi, noted that in spite of the dwindling allocations from the Federation Account, Governor Dickson has been able to change the face of the state.

He listed the provision of infrastructure in almost all the communities and the regular payment of workers̢۪ salary, as well as welfare package for the senior citizens as some of the achievements of the Dickson administration.

“If all these could be achieved in four years, then our amiable governor should be given the opportunity to serve another four years term in office,” Ipigansi said.

At Imiringi community, Mr. Peter Afagha, who spoke on behalf of the community, lauded Governor Dickson for the rate of developmental in the state and pledged the commitment of the people in the area to vote for his re-election.

He, however, drew the governor’s attention to the challenges facing the people, which include the abandoned 14- kilometre Opolo-Elebele road.

In response to the people’s request, Governor Dickson gave immediate approval for the completion of the dualization of the Opolo-Elebele road and the rehabilitation of non- functioning water project in the area.
