The Chairman of the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Kayode Bamisile, has clarified that the commission would not use card readers for the forthcoming local government elections.
The elections are slated for December 19, 2015, as fulfillment of the electioneering promise by Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Card readers were introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission under the immediate past chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega during the 2015 general elections, to minimize electoral fraud.
Addressing stakeholders during a sensitization tour of the Ado Ekiti Local Government in preparation for the elections, Bamisile said the elections will be free, fair and credible, as earlier promised during the composition of the Commission.
Bamisile assured that all the election results will be counted and announced at the polling units, promising that same results will be signed by all party agents.
