Maggie Batt-Rawden, 55, married her husband Mark, 54, from her hospital bed a day after being told she would not survive the weekend due to breast cancer that had spread to her lungs
These moving pictures show a bride given just days to live marrying from her hospital bed after her fiancé organised a wedding in 24 hours.
Maggie Batt-Rawden and her now-husband Mark became engaged last year but decided to wed sooner when they received devastating news.
The 55-year-old, née Spinks, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, which later spread to her lungs.
Last month, she learned her health had rapidly deteriorated.
But when the mother-of-three was told she was unlikely to survive the weekend, her fiancé decided to bring the wedding forward, giving his partner the chance to become his bride before she died.
He organised the day in fewer than 24 hours, phoning people less than three hours before the event.
Mr Batt-Rawden, 54, said: 'After we had been told on Friday evening that Maggie was unlikely to survive the weekend, I thought she might like to get married in the hospital the very next day.'
He asked staff at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, in Guildford, about the possibility of getting married at the hospital on the following day, November 21.
Just two hours later plans were in full swing, with the registrar booked and the ceremony set to take place at 1pm the next day.
The next morning Mr Batt-Rawden met Monty Steedman, the charge nurse on Albury Ward, and asked if they could use a neighbouring room for guests.
He said: 'Monty said "I think we might be able to do a little better than that, give me a couple of minutes".'
The couple married on November 21 surrounded by their family and friends. Since, Mrs Batt-Rawden has defied doctors to survive longer than expected
