A four-year-old Indian boy was reportedly kidnapped and beheaded as part of a ritual.
The boy, named locally as L. Manusagar, was taken in the Prakasam district, according to New Indian Express.
A friend of the boy told his mother where he had been taken and when discovered his body in an empty home.
He was reportedly decapitated as an offering to a deity.
She screamed and fainted, which alerted locals to the gruesome scene, the report adds.
Villagers found the accused, tied him up before beating him and setting him on fire.
Police intervened and the man was taken to hospital where he is recovering.
