ICPC Chiarman Ekpo Nta
The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has seized various landed properties belonging to some staff of the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
The staff are being investigated by the commission for possessing properties which are “excessive, having regards to their present emoluments and all other relevant circumstances.”
In a notice of seizure issued by the Commission and signed by its Chairman, Ekpo Nta, the commission said the movable and immovable properties seized from the affected staff were part of the subject of the investigation.
The affected staff include one Poloma Kabiru Nuhu from whom an uncompleted duplex situated at Diamond Estate, Apo, Abuja, valued at N90 million, was seized along with a plot of land valued at N50 million in Kuje, Abuja and 16 other plots of land in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The other staff involved are Mangset Longyl Dickson from whom a plot of land in Kubwa District, Abuja, valued at N7 million, was seized, and Daniel Obah from whom a four-bedroom duplex in Abuja was seized along with four plots of land at various locations in Rivers State.
Nta said the decision to seize the property would be served on the appropriate Land Registries and Departments in all the states where the property are situated.
He stated: “The commission is investigating a matter involving some staff (members) of the Niger Delta Ministry, with certain movable and immovable property owned by the said staff.
“The commission is of the opinion based on the aforementioned investigation that these movable and immovable property owned by these people who are staff of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs are excessive, having regards to their present emoluments and all other relevant circumstances. The commission hereby notifies the entire public that all movable and immovable properties owned by these staff (members) and listed hereunder are seized.”
