Ogun State At 40: President Buhari to commission 40 projects - Amosun



The Ogun State Government says its plan for the 40th anniversary celebration of the creation of the State was not for fun and merriment alone but also an occasion to give account of its stewardship to the people of the State.

Towards this end, it says a number of projects embarked upon and completed by the current administration would be commissioned across the State as part of the celebration.

Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa who dropped this hint at a meeting with Heads of security agencies in the State also disclosed that President Muhamadu Buhari, past Governors and icons of the State were billed to commission the projects.

‘’Government intends to celebrate this milestone with a number of activities and programmes. We have identified 40 key projects to be commissioned during the week long. In Ogun West, we have about 12 projects, 13 projects are in the offing in Ogun East and in Ogun Central, we have 15 projects to be commissioned’’, the SSG said.

Barr. Adeoluwa noted that the visit of the President would be his first official visit to any South-West State, adding that the celebration would be the ‘’biggest event since the inception of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun – led administration’’.

All the security chiefs present at the meeting, including the State Security Service, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, pledged their readiness to make the celebration and the President’s visit hitch-free.

The 40th anniversary celebration, according to the SSG would start with a special Jumat Service on Friday, 29th January at the Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta.

It would be followed with a Town Hall Meeting to be hosted by the State Governor with residents and other stakeholders on Saturday 30th January at the June 12 cultural centre,kuto Abeokuta.

The activities continue on Sunday, 31st January with a Special Thanksgiving Service at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake also in Abeokuta.

Monday, 1st through Wednesday 3rd February, would feature the commissioning of various developmental projects across the State.
