TERRORISM IN NIGERIA; The Way Forward? - Owolabi Eleniyan

O. Eleniyan

Over 3000 souls have been lost from May 29 till date to terrorism in
Nigeria, its so painful how innocent souls are lost in the process of
looking for means to survive or going about their daily means.
Boko Haram Carnage

Some consider terrorism in Nigeria as a tool to sell cheap propaganda
against one another as the lives of Nigerians mean nothing to this
power intoxicated group of people.

Can we fight Terrorism when we are divided?

How can we win the war against terrorism when we are bias in our judgment?

How can Nigeria be terrorism free when those that are supposed to
"block the bullet are behind the trigger"?

These are questions begging for answers!

Fellow Nigerians what is the way forward?

The government of the day should enforce the security agencies from
scratch, empower the local security groups, provide them with modern
weaponry, deploy security experts to train and nuture them on how to
protect human lives and property.

Poverty, unemployment and literacy are major factors why Nigerians are
subjected to this group of terrorists, the government should provide
jobs for the unemployed or set up scheme to eradicate poverty to some
extent, and also the government must be able to educate people in the
local villages were these bomb blast happens the disadvantages
terrorism is causing in Nigeria.

A country that is not corruption free can never be terrorism free! How?

We have seen cases of government officials embezzling money meant for
securing lives and properties of Nigerians and therefore the
government must first fight corruption without devoid of partisanship,
then appoint right thinking Nigerians to head the security sector.

Finally, self awareness is key, we should be cautions of the people we
move with, don't just accommodate people anyhow, and also stay away
from areas were bomb blast occur frequently.

Above all, a free and safe Nigeria we should all seek.
