Alan Carr got drunk on tequila live on This Morning and forgot the name of his show

It all got a bit too much for Alan Carr after he undertook a tricky tequila challenge on This Morning – and ended up a little the worse for wear.

The Chatty Man host was persuaded into downing shots of the drink on Wednesday morning’s show as Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby aimed to get their own back for his impromptu studio invasion in September.

That moment saw Alan and his guests Will Young, Keith Lemon and Carly Rae Jepsen cause mayhem – and leave graffiti – all over the This Morning studio.

Which led Phillip and Holly to turn the tables on the presenter as they swiped a load of items from his Chatty Man set – including gold cushions and his globe-shaped drinks trolley.

And it was that which spurned on the drinks challenge, as Phillip reminded him they had indulged in a similar tequila showdown when he was a guest on Carr’s show – and that as it had ended in a draw they had a score to settle.

Despite his protestations, telling the pair ‘I’ve got such a busy day today,’ Alan still took on Phillip in the challenge – and downed not only the tequila but the worm inside the glass also

Awkward. But after all manner of face-pulling and general grimacing he didn’t seem to mind too much as Phillip asked: ‘Are we quits now?’ and he confessed: ‘Now I’ve had that tequila I feel I can get on with my life.’

Things subsequently went smoothly as Alan continued chatting away about the release of his tour DVD Yap Yap Yap – until, that is, he realised just how much of an effect the tequila had had when he promptly ‘forgot’ the name of his talk show.

‘I still get nervous because it’s a live audience and you don’t know what could happen,’ he began, ‘and the thing is now I’m doing – now I’m doing – ‘ before being left cringing in embarrassment.

Oh dear…
