Labour leaders and their members at the state labour house in Abeokuta
Having realized that the state government has turned deaf ears and blind eyes to the on-going industrial action by the entire state workforce, and consequent upon the emergency labour congress held at the NLC House, Abiola way, Abeokuta where virtually all labour leaders representing Labour outfits were on hand to address the congress, the following resolutions were agreed upon...
1. That any public or civil servant who is found at work during the period of this strike action shall be regarded as SABOTEUR. And is therefore labelled as ENEMY OF WORKERS.
2. That the pronouncement by the state government on: "NO WORK, NO PAY" is nothing but mere idle threat that is an old but weak cliche. Hence, workers were urged never to be swindled or bamboozled by such ineffectual CLICHE.
3. That Ogun workers have resolved NEVER to return to work until all their demands (which are no longer new to workers) are met by the government.
4. That the intimidating, humiliating, naked force and brutal attacks which the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led government is adopting to quench and trample on workers' inalienable rights are condemnable and very unfortunate in a democratic setting.
5. That the state government shall be HELD RESPONSIBLE for the safety and security of every worker no matter their posture towards this on-going industrial action.
6. That the JNC/TUC/NLC as leadership of labour in Ogun state demand an unreserved apology from the state government or her Secretary, Barr. TAIWO ADEOLUWA for the humiliation, battering, handcuffing and molestation meted out on our members on Tuesday, 8th March, 2016 by the security officers who acted on the instructions of the SSG.
7. That failure by government to call for talks with labour in order to find lasting solutions to the impasse, all civil and public servants in the employment of Ogun state government shall by Monday, 14th March, 2016 embark on a peaceful Protest March to the state Secretariat, Oke Imosan to further drive home our agitation.
8. That the state government or any of its agencies has no RIGHT whatsoever to call off the strike as it was not the body that called workers out in the first place.
9. That the leadership of labour remain committed to the strike action and shall never betray the trust of our colleagues.
In the meantime, ASUSS expresses its deepest gratitude to all teachers who attended the Congress even at such short notice. We look forward to receiving you next week if there is need for it.
THANKS FOR BEING LOYAL COMRADES.
Signed:
