U.K: Parliament could be forced to debate a vote of no-confidence in David Cameron

A petition calling for a vote of no confidence in David Cameron as Prime Minister is set to be discussed in Parliament.

It reads: ‘The current Tory government has caused devastation for the poorest in society for the last five years.

‘We cannot afford another five years of Tory rule, with the recent welfare reform that will cause nothing but immense poverty in the UK.’

The petition, which was launched in July, has since attracted 117,903 (at time of writing).

Usually, Government considers petitions which get more than 100,000 signatures for debate.

Overnight Kelly Teeboon’s petition was updated to read: ‘Parliament will consider this for a debate’, although a date has not yet been confirmed.

Although DavCam haters shouldn’t get too excited just yet, a similar petition to oust Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt which garnered a whopping over 220,000 was rejected by for debate by MPs.

It was Cameron himself who introduced the e-petition initiative when he entered Downing Street in 2010.

At the time, he said: ‘It’s absurd that a tiny percentage of the population craft legislation that will apply to 100 per cent of the population. Instead of locking them out, we need to invite them in.’
