Nigeria: Boko Haram Plans Attack On Abuja Using ‘Aid Workers,’ FCTA Raises Alarm



The Federal Capital Territory Administration has warned residents of imminent attack by the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, using young girls posing as ‘aid workers’ to penetrate places of worship and markets.

In a memo dated November 23, 2015 to the presidents of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ja’matu Nasrul Islam and the General Manager, Abuja Metropolitan Management Limited (AMML), the FCTA said the memo is for the affected organisations to forewarn their members and take proactive measures to forestall possible attacks.

The memo signed by Mohammed M. Mohammed, Director Security Services FCTA, titled; Forwarding of Intelligence, reads in part: “Intelligence reaching this office revealed that insurgents are planning to attack the Federal Capital Territory. Their main targets are worship Centres and Markets with the use of young girls as members of aid groups to carry out their planned attacks.

“It is in our view of the foregoing, I am directed to inform you to communicate the content of this letter to all mosques, Churches and Markets across the FCT for extra vigilance particularly unknown persons dressing as aid workers loitering around the worship areas and markets.

The FCT has witnessed eight deadly attacks allegedly carried out by Boko Haram with over 300 people killed.
