Politics: Ogun State Towards 2019 - by Badero Olusola

Tinubu, Amosun and Osoba

After the post I shared on how Gov Amosun went to President Buhari to report Tinubu, I followed it up to the reaction of the people concerned; Gov Amosun, Asiwaju Tinubu, Baba Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel

Immediately the post went viral and Gov Amosun was notified, he was said to have felt withdrawn and sober. He was also quoted to have said, "a o ni choice, a ma need lati fa Oju Awon eeyan mora pada ni" (meaning; we have no choice now than to make peace with everyone)!

Peace it is - A day after the news got to him, he took few of his friends and Tinubu's friends to placate the man. As I was informed, Tinubu turned down the plea and vowed never to have anything to do with Amosun again.

Gov. Amosun didn't give up as he approached the party chairman, Oyegun to intervene. He was said to have confided in Oyegun the plot by Tinubu and Osoba to take over the party from him.

The chairman is said to have jocularly asked if Amosun want to be governor for the third time.

On Baba Osoba's part, the old man is being cautious of a repeat of 2010 agreement between him and Tinubu which gave birth to Amosun govt. The Egba high chief and the former governor was said to have called an emergency meeting of his supporters, including senator kaka, to his Abeokuta home and tabled the current offer from Tinubu.

Onile, a staunch loyalist of Osoba in Sagamu took the show by his contribution that they should all go back to APC and fight for the house they built but hurriedly left before the election. He professed his readiness to support the idea of accepting Tinubu's offer.

This piece may be a bit confusing to you as a first time reader. Here's a recap;

Sometime in December 2015, an information leaked to the media that Gov Amosun is plotting to take over as the new leader of APC in the southwest and undermining Tinubu's leadership in the process. He told many lies of how Tinubu is plotting against the president and so on.

This has prompted Tinubu to visit Osoba for reconciliation and then work together in taming the monster called Amosun that is about to consume them all.

Tinubu is rumoured to have also solicited for the support of the former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is this regard.

OGD is reported to have convened his own meeting to sample people's opinion on the subject matter.

The race to 2019 has begun - schemes upon schemes are already cooking.

Senator Yayi is pushing his governorship ambition with all gusto and might - his team are determined to get it for Yewa this time.

This threat has made Gov Amosun to switch gear in choosing a successor - the rumour initially was his preference to Senator Lekam Mustapha to succeed him as governor in 2019. But there is new twist to the rumour - there is a very good friend of Amosun based in Texas. I will share his data here once I lay hand on them. That is the man Amosun is bringing in 2019. He is a Yewa man. Maybe Unknown, politically.

Hon. Bankole

Dimeji Bankole is contesting as well as Hon. Ladi Adebutu who is planning to Come out under Odogbolu local government. He is currently representing Remo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. Odogbolu is under Ijebu Central and his mother is from there.

Sen. Buruji Kasamu has denied his interest in the 2019 governorship race. He said to have confused in close friends that going for governor again, with all that happened in the recent past, would be like playing to the gallery and daring the devil to do its worst!

The fact at my disposal suspects many of these gladiators will end up working together in dislodging Amosun's planned stooge.

Bankole will end up in the senate, Yayi will be pushed forward.

A new party may be in the offing as we race towards another battle for Oke Mosan in 2019.
