Politics: 'I am not leaving PDP' - Dimeji Bankole

Hon. Dimeji Bankole, Fmr. Speaker HoR

A former speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole, has warned against the imposition of candidates by party leaders, blaming it for the party’s loss in the Ogun state governorship election in 2015.

Mr. Bankole declared his resolve to revive the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party, on Friday, while hosting thousands of his supporters under the aegis of Dimeji Bankole Movement (DBM), for a new year party at his residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

He debunked rumours insinuating his planned defection from PDP, reiterating his resolve to stay to help in the rebuilding process to return the party to it winning ways.

Recalling the loss of the party in the last general election, Mr. Bankole blamed an allege imposition of candidates, warning party leaders that any attempt to impose candidates in upcoming polls through manipulation of congresses will ensure a repetition of the 2015 experience.

Speaking, the movement through its state secretary, Johnson Fatoki, declared its unwavering supports to the former HoR Speaker, maintaining that it is ready to leave with him (Bankole) to any party he choose should the state leadership of his party (PDP) failed to resolve most of the crisis in the party.
