Donald Trump on Meet the Press - (NBC screen grab)
ON NBC’s Meet The Press, GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump continued his attacks on Hillary Clinton by bringing up her husband’s sexual indiscretions, while dismissing his own troubled marital history as unimportant because he wasn’t president at the time.
Speaking with host Chuck Todd, Trump continued to swing back at Clinton by using former President Bill Clinton’s sexual history as a cudgel after she accused him of having a “penchant for sexism.”
Cautioned by Todd that, if he continues to talk about the ex-president’s infidelity, he was opening himself up to the same treatment, Trump said, “It’s okay.”
“I mean, your first divorce was ugly,” Todd replied. “It was all over the tabloids.”
“You know what? I wasn’t the President of the United States, and I wasn’t dealing in the Oval Office, all right? Big difference,” Trump parried.
Trump went on to say that his first wife, Ivana, thinks he is “great,” without mentioning his affair with Georgia beauty queen Marla Maples that broke up his first marriage before Maples briefly became his second wife.
