The Ooni of Ife, Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has predicted that Nigeria would overcome the present economic and security challenges.
The foremost traditional ruler gave the assurance in his residence in Ile-Ife yesterday, when the management of Nigerian Breweries, led by Mr. Joseph Bodunrin, the regional business manager visited him.
Oba Ogunwusi noted that this was not the first time the country was passing through hard times, stressing that the country has always overcome them at the end of the day.
According to him; “The country has gone through too many circles of recession but always overcome it through our resilience and perseverance.”
He described Nigerians as resilient people who can survive in any situation whether in surplus or recession.
The monarch charged multinational companies in the country to always give back to the society where they operate to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.
Oba Ogunwusi specifically appealed to the management of the company to give more support to all cultural festivals in Yoruba land as a way of preserving its heritage.
He disclosed that his sports academy which will take off before the end of the year will take care of not less than 2,000 youths when in full operation, adding that greatest employers of labour all over the world is sports.
Earlier, the regional business manager of NB, Mr. Bodunrin, said the company was in the palace to identify itself with the Olojo Festival which will soon be
celebrated in the town.
