Bob Geldof: I Half-Expected Peaches' Death *** The singer says "the way she was carrying on" before her death meant he knew there was nothing he could do to stop it happening.

Peaches died of a heroin overdose in April 2014

Bob Geldof has revealed that he "half-expected" the death of his daughter Peaches.

The 25-year-old was found slumped on a bed by her musician husband Tom Cohen after taking a fatal heroin overdose at their home in Wrotham, Kent, on 7 April, 2014.

Geldof has been speaking about the death of three women in his life; his mother, his estranged wife Paula Yates and Peaches.

"With Peaches it was different; I was half-expecting it. The way she was carrying on, there's nothing you can do about it," he told Ireland's RTE Radio 1.

Geldof plans to write a song about Peaches

"She's with me every second of every day. She's the girl that bounds into my consciousness when I least expect it."

The Boomtown Rats singer said he plans to write a song about the pain of losing his daughter.

"I find that label 'forever 25' unbearable. You're not supposed to see your children die," he said.

Peaches' death echoed that of her mother Yates, 41, who also died from a heroin overdose in 2000.

Geldof revealed that he and his daughters were enjoying a birthday breakfast for Pixie when he received the call about Yates.

He said he used the same words his father had used when his own mother died to tell the girls she was gone.

"I just said to them 'Your Mum died last night'.

"With Paula, the leaving me was worse than the dying. It made me realise that love isn't enough," he said.
