Aggrieved residents of Banire–Oludipe Streets in Surulere, Local Government Area of Lagos State recently embarked on a peaceful protest against the deplorable services of Eko Electricity Distribution Company in the neighborhood.

Speaking with newsmen, the Chairman of the Banire Oludipe Street Landlords and Tenants Association (BOLSTA), Otunba Segun Ayodele, accused the electricity distribution company of insensitivity to the plight of the residents.

He said, “For over eight years now, we have been suffering power outages while neighboring Streets such as Apena, Atunrase, Mabo, Fashoro enjoy regular supply of electricity. We barely have power for four hours daily. We live in an Island of darkness, while our neighbours live in an oasis of light. The undertaking manager at Jibowu has also been hostile to our plight. We have tried everything humanly possible but to no avail. Another resident, Miss Nwaka George lamented that the power situation in the area had affected many businesses,” she said.
