This woman was over the moon when she took home £380 of winnings from a horse race and posted the winning ticket on Facebook to share her glory.
But it all went wrong when the punter, known only as Chantelle, from Perth, Australia, reportedly went to collect the money only to be told it had already been claimed.
Chantelle, who had never gambled before, had placed $20 (£9.31) on a horse called Prince of Penzance with 101-1 odds at the Melbourne Cuphorse race .
When she won, the thrilled young woman shared the ecstatic selfie with her Facebook friends, not realised that the slip included a barcode, to be used at an automated machine to claim the cash..
Chantelle later posted on Facebook: ‘To the low life who is obviously my friend on Facebook and used my photo to claim our winnings.
‘You’re a massive d***. You ruined my day.’
Speaking to local radio station Triple M, she said: ‘I’d never bet before so I went with some friends and put some money on a few different races. When Prince of Penzance’s name came up we were stoked, we were so happy.’
She added: ‘We had already been up to the guy to claim our bet and when we found out we won so naturally I took a selfie to show my friends.
‘Fifteen minutes later went back up the guy I went to collect the money and the guy said it had already been claimed.’
Here’s a crucial lesson we’ve learnt in betting. Don’t post a winning selfie.
