Musing of a Blogger: 'I don't hate President Buhari' - by Badero Olusola

Badero Olusola

For the record;

I, Badero Olusola, is not against the government of President Buhari in whatsoever way you might be seeing it. I am 100% in support of his ruthless approach towards the corrupt individuals and groups in Nigeria; but I am against selective prosecution. That's one!

Two, still on corruption; the accused persons so far have not denied their involvement in the mismanagement associated to the NSA's office. They've all confessed to have received money at one time or the other. Therefore, I can't be against the government that instituted such probe; if for nothing, knowing how much the people we trusted with our commonwealth, really abused or protect our patrimony.

But, my role as a citizen is to guide and guard the government from descending to tyranny and abuse of power. When a government choose to be selective on which court orders to be obeyed or ignored, law and order will break down, anarchy will loom and the same country we are trying to save from looters with burn to ashes by anarchists!

That's my fear!

That is why I pick on Buhari - it is to play my role as a citizen.

Every human being is entitled to courtesy and consideration. Constructive criticism is not only to be expected but sought.

When the government starts talking about how they would;

• Improve electricity generation and distribution

• Improve the Economy and generate employments

• Improve food production and crash food prices for Nigerians

• Improve healthcare facilities and end mother/child mortality rate in Nigeria

• Improve infrastructure and ensure the security of lives and properties of all Nigerians

• Cut recurrent expenditures by reducing the over bloated and duplicated appointments in government

• Improve the education and youth productivity in the new Nigeria they promised

• Improve a better welfare package for the aged and vulnerable in the society

• Improve the rule of law and equality before the law by both the rich and the poor

These are my priorities; they are not born out of hate, disrespect or disregard for the person of President Buhari.

Aside his hoard of ignorant followers on Facebook, Buhari still earn my respect for his profound faith in what he believes in. Leading Nigeria again against all odds is a rare privilege any man could have. And most respectfully his ability to utilise his widely respectable integrity to dislodge the humongous PDP from power - something many couldn't believe; even to this day!

He had the dream of Nigeria without any blemish of the corrupt few, rub on other innocent million Nigerians working hard to earn their livings - I know this about Buhari and I respect that. Many of us want the same thing, albeit differently.

Now that the old man has been blessed with another chance to make that happen, he should not be too carried away with corruption probes while the other sectors suffers complete neglect.

His team of ministers are already in place; let them start giving us the roadmap to recovery. Enough of the PDP rhetorics - we know PDP and the players very well. They are today's APC leaders too. So we know a little about them. But that's not why Buhari was elected.

We need the same gusto Buhari is using in his fight against corruption in other sectors too. I want to read how fashola inaugurate power generating equipments to revamp the dead power sector. How 1,000,0000 new graduates got employed immediately after graduation. I want to read about how our security forces finally defeats the bloody Boko Haram... And so on...

These are my expectations. Election is over. By now, even if we don't expect miracles, we should have been schooled on how he wants to bring back the lost glory of our country.

Or is it still too early to know how they want to build Nigeria from the ruins of PDP?
